Please post the link to his press conferences. He only agreed to 3 debates,
Sen. Feingold offered 6. Johnson lost all 3, but channel 27 didn't show the 2nd
one because they preferred showing Dancing With The Stars with Bristol Palin
instead. How is anyone swiftboating Johnson? He won, by lying and by using
$millions to spread the lies.- Genie Ogden

Dear Mitchell,

If Ron Johnson appears to you as avoiding the "press" and people like
you who mis-characterize his every utterances, he is a smart man.  You
will hear plenty once he starts rolling.  All the "swift-boating" you
and other Feingold supporters could launch didn't stop the Tea Party
steam boat for Ron Johnson and others like him.

Ron Johnson was elected by lying his way into office by
falsely accusing Sen. Feingold of voting for government run healthcare,
when there is no such thing. He never said anything about what he was
going  to do, just that he believed sunspots caused global warming, and
that he was a follower of right-wing Ayn Rand and the racist book "The
Bell Curve." He was also known to have spoken at a hearing to protect
the Catholic church from being sued for child molesting.  He said he
would say more after he was elected (after avoiding the press and
having as few debates as possible). But after the election he is still
avoiding the press.

           Dear Jeff and Group,

The Tea Party movement is barely a year old and formed to address gross
negligent spending by government in all sectors and directions.  And
certainly every group wishes to either speak for the Tea Party, co-opt,
or change their focus.  Few people and few organized groups show
consistency in purpose and direction.  And few analyze situations with
organized and rational thought and purpose.  If only the Tea Party knew
that an extra lane of paving was to cost $3 billions of dollars and
that a Verona corridor a half billion dollars, you would have a
protest.  Economics is the "science" of the production and distribution
of scarce goods.  We have elected a Tea Party man to represent
Wisconsin in the Senate and his training is in business and numbers.
He is Ron Johnson as you all know by now.   Jeff, you might be
surprised what Tea Partyers might be evaluating, protesting, and axing
in the future.

Eric

Funny, I haven't heard any Tea Party (or any other source, really)
opposition to spending an additional $3 billion for adding an extra lane in
each direction to I-94 from Milwaukee to Illinois, and to I-39/90 from Madison
to Illinois. Most of the 80% federal share seems unlikely to be coming from a
solvent Federal Highway Trust Fund, funded by the federal fuel tax/user fee.

Nor is much of anyone opposing the addition hundreds of billions that will be
needed to maintain some semblance of control over the sources of all that extra
oil that will be required for all that extra driving (as electric vehicles are
unlikely to be very prevalent for at least another decade or two).

For a few tens of thousands of dollars the Mayor of Milton could bike the 11
miles from his home to work, 8 months of the year, and car-pool the rest of the
time. Tea Partyers don't seem much interested in energy conservation or
energy-efficient non-motorized or public transit travel.

Dear George and Group,

If your figure is correct on the cost of an Interstate UPGRADE-------at ONE
HALF BILLION DOLLARS?---I would have just one comment------(even shorter than
yours)--------ARE THEY ALL NUTS??? (There is a reason for a TEA PARTY.)

              Introduction

"Comments on the SDEIS are encouraged from all members of the public
and are due by Friday, December 17, 2010."
http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/projects/d1/verona/index.htm

These are comments on the supplemental and draft environmental impact
statement (SDEIS/DEIS) reports for the Dane County US 18/151 (Verona
Road) corridor. I've edited mine down to ten bite size quick reads
being posted this week...

The proposed Verona Road upgrade price tag is too high ($502 million),
and it is shrugged off as a "normal" cost of transportation. The
design is business-as-usual, giving priority to vehicle speed and
traffic volume, at considerable cost and with negative consequences
for the environment and the social fabric of our neighborhoods.

There is a philosophical disconnect (between "life" and "engineering")
in the SDEIS/DEIS assumptions so it is difficult to comment the
SDEIS/DEIS since the points would be moot if natural life were the
priority (instead of the "conventional" preferences for steel,
concrete, and fossil fuel consumption). However, I have taken the time
to point out errors in specificity and detail that are present in the
SDEIS/DEIS.

Comment #2 posted here is a more philosophical commentary. Comments
#3-10 are specific to errors in the SDEIS/DEIS.

Thank you for reading and giving me the opportunity to provide input
and feedback.
