Why are the bus/bike lanes on the Square marked with a diamond? Hard to believe it's just for the buses; I would think your average bus driver knows what lane to use on the Square. And that lane is not for private HOVs (carpools/vanpools). Drivers will pay a lot more attention to a pavement marking that's constantly in front of them, than a sign they flit past at 10 MPH above the speed limit (such as a speed limit sign...). That this stretch of W. Wash is intended to be one lane for cars in each direction is totally news to me; and I've traveled that stretch by bike, my own car and a city car numerous times. Seems like lane painting to clear up the confusion is a no-brainer. --------------------- Paul T.
