Actually, I have to agree that this notice was inappropriate for this list.
I'm getting enough on protests and politics from other sources, and would
prefer this list stick strictly to bike-centric issues.

Well, at least until Walker proposes tearing up all the bike paths... ;)

P.S.------Jeff, I would not have brought up the point about this
listserv and politics had I known this was a bicycle riding political
event. I simply read the notice posted here by Mitchell Nussbaun with
this: ["Please consider joining us in this walk from the First
Unitarian Society to our Capitol in support of reason and compassion.
"]-------But if you, Jeff, say it has a bicycle component, I withdraw
my criticism--even if the politics are not concerning the promotion of
bicycle use.

After all, bicycle rides for other promotions are listed--such as
fighting cancer. But I would not be surprised if there is a biking
component to future Tea Party rallies as well to promote.------ew

All right--you invited notices for Tea Party rallying and other
political walks, rides, and gatherings. Just remember that when all
the incensed "listserv members" start posting, asking just how they
might stop all e-mail to their listed address. After all--the Tea
Party is non-political, endorsing no particular parties.

    Think about it, Eric, unless
you're riding on private land or deciding what kind of new clothes to
get for fashionable spring riding, there is little about cycling that
is completely removed from the political process.

I'm forwarding this message to you from my friend, Lauri Schwartz.
Lauri is the mother of one of our Girl Scouts, a member of the First
Unitarian Society, and a Madison Police Dept. Sargent. She has secured
a city permit and scouted the 2.93 mile route of the march (see map
link below) to minimize street crossings, bad stretches of ice, and to
avoid going over Bascom Hill!

Please forward the message to anyone you think might be interested;
friends, neighbors, co-workers, church members.

I know we can all use a great group 'walk and talk'. So far, Tuesday's
weather forecast looks spectacular! Mostly sunny and 38 during the day,
low of 18 during the night. Feel free to join us en-route.

feels like a time of turmoil and darkness. So we march in kindness and
