I am very familiar with biking around that area as I live in Waunakee
and work on S. Biltmore (by the Alliance HQ). I bike to work several
times a week in the summer and occassionally in the winter.
I have a difficult time heading east from Hwy CV onto Hoepker Road
because the hill is too steep immediately after you turn off on CV. I
have tried it a few times and given up. The other problem is Hwy CV. I
know many bikers who will not bike down this road as they are a bit
fearful for their safety. Unless some of the other issues on this route
are addressed, I believe building a better bridge on Hopeker over the
Interstate would do little to attract bikers. A beautiful bridge was
built over Hanson Road a few years back and I still see few bikers
utilizing this route which connects to a bike path at the end of Portage
Road by Hwy 151.
