I rode in the MS Ride & had never seen so many flats, not even on RAGBRAI with
thousands more riding. People were getting flats right out of Whitewater & it
must have been a combination of people's wet tires picking stuff up off the
road & maybe friction caused by water getting into their rims, or something
like that...?

Then, we hit a patch of road that had been recently chip sealed & our tires
were still wet. It was a bit difficult biking through the stuff & then upon
finishing riding on the stuff, there were probably 10+ people with flats
looking down the road. Then, throughout the rest of the ride there were more &
more people with flats all over the place.

That chip seal was messy & due to the wet tires we picked up a lot of the
material, which stuck & maybe got crushed into the rubber. However, people were
getting flats even before we hit the chip seal, so not sure what was happening
on Sun.

Subject: [Bikies] MS Ride and tires

I got this note today from the MS Ride folx; thought bikies might be
interested given the recent conversation:
