Someone requested an update from the eastside, and I didn't see one come
through, so here goes (and sorry I didn't post earlier for those who may have
been able to use it tonight):

The Yahara path was pretty clear. If there were any ice patches, they were
small, because I don't remember them.

East Isthmus/Atwood path, between Yahara and Dempsey, had some icy spots. Most
of them did not go across the entire path, so I could aim for dry pavement (was
riding with skinny tires). They were all visible ahead of time, including after
dark with my Stella commuter light (a battery pack bright LED light). There was
a broad patch of ice at the intersection of the path and either Dixon or Ryan
Street (just west of Fair Oaks).

The only horrid stretch was behind Olbrich Gardens. It was ice for the whole
length of the fenced-in part of the gardens to the west of the bridge. Bad
enough that on my return trip, I took a detour through the sidewalk on Atwood
Avenue. And I hate riding on the sidewalk. (But not as much as I hate riding
directly on that stretch of Atwood Avenue, apparently.)

If I had thought of it and figured out a way to carry one on the bike I was
using, I would have brought an ice-chopper along with me. Most of the patches
were small enough that they could have been quickly dispatched. I would not
have
taken on the Olbrich ice belt on my own, though.
