I was not talking about crime. Asking people--pedestrians and bicyclists--to put their lives at risk (yes, there have been fatal bike on bike crashes in Madison) because some selfish neighbors want to pretend they live in the country by having no lights past their backyard (although there are lights in their front yard) is a little much. I simply do not understand why there is even any debate about the need for lights.
