It is hard not to jump to conclusions when reading about these tragic events,
the lack of information and the concern for our own safety leave us
particularly vulnerable making our own judgements. I know the driver of the car
in the Aberg crash, and travel the area myself all the time. I will not comment
on the driver, or speculate on what happened, but I would like to share some of
my experiences which I am sure are not unique.

Comming from the shopko drive area crossing the Aberg intersection is dangerous
on the north side (nearest Kelly's Market) in particular because in general,
many drivers looking to make a right turn onto Aberg focus on mootor vehicle
trafic traving north on Hwy 30 (Aberg) and often make the turn without checking
if a cyclist at the corner with the ped, crossing signal is crossing. I have
had numerous closs calls at this intersection, even though I am careful to make
eye contact with the driver.

I have seen many idiots on bikes (and peds. also) pass me while I am waiting
for the walk light just because they don't see any cross trafic.

being human means that we all make mistakes, no matter how concientous we may
be, and we need to be more aware, ride defenseively, and recognise the
contribution of our peers on bikes who contribute to the problem by thinking
that they don't have to follow the rules themselves.
I have also begun to see idiots ride their bikes west on 30, rather than cross
the intersection and take the paralel bike path.

At the intersection of the intersection of the bike path with Packers there is
the same problem with motor vehicles turning right onto Aberg/Hwy 30, and they
tend to stop in the crosswalk to get better sightline to see oncomming cross
traffic.
