On her last day on PBMVC, Dorothy Borchhardt promised to come back if the
City ever tried to reconfigure N. Sherman. It should be interesting.

Friends -

I'm writing because you've contacted me about Sherman Ave in the past. The
Traffic Engineering report I requested is done, and can be found here:

&GUID=CF39ED1C-7DEE-4BCC-B629-B29218517F5E&Options=&Search=. I've introduced
a resolution to implement the recommendations of the report. That can be
found here: http://madison.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=1282786

In short, the City's Traffic Engineering Division is recommending
improvements to decrease vehicle speed and to make it safer for pedestrians
and bicycles on N. Sherman Ave. The report recommends two main changes to
the street. First, to reconfigure the street cross-section between Trailsway
and Fordem (pending cooperation from the Village of Maple Bluff) from the
existing four lane street to a two lane street with a center left turn lane
and bike lanes, and second, to install pedestrian refuge islands at five
high pedestrian crossing locations along the project corridor.

The changes will be discussed and voted on at the following meetings:

Board of Estimates

2/18 4:30 pm

Madison Municipal Building, Room 260

Board of Public Works

2/20 4:30 pm

City County Building, Room 108

Long Range Transportation Planning Committee

2/21 5:00 pm

Madison Municipal Building, Room LL-110

Pedestrian, Bicycle, Motor Vehicle Committee

2/27 5:00 pm

Madison Municipal Building, Room 260

Common Council

3/5 6:30 pm

City County Building, Room 201

All meeting are open to the public, and will take public comment.Of course,
you can also contact me at [email protected] or 242-4426.

Best,

Satya
