This NYT article reports on the results of a study of pedestrian and
bicyclist injuries treated at a particular NYC hospital, with the perhaps
unsurprising lede

Pedestrians struck by cars are most often hit while in the crosswalk,
with the signal on their side.

One of the more interesting results- arguably flying in the face of Mayor
Bloomberg's jihad against Big Soda- is that fat folk fare favourably in
collisions- it's all physics, baby. They also look at a raft of victim
behaviours, such as use of electronic devices, alcohol, and time of day.
Taxicabs and food delivery services are the apparent natural enemies of
cyclists.

A chilling limitation of the dataset: those who died at the scene weren't
treated and therefore weren't counted.
