Robbie, Arthur and Al, Thanks for your quick responses and for
correcting the assumption that "all things bike" are Madison.
Hi Rick, all:
I forwarded your comment to Karl Frantz, the Village Manager of Shorewood
Hills.

lane with out any traffic controls in place. . . .>
Marshall Court west of University Bay Drive is the Village of
Shorewood Hills. Anything north of University Ave between
Farley/University Bay Dr and about Segoe Road is in the Village. It's
not Madison again on the north side until you enter Indian Hills Park
on the bike path at the west end of the golf course.

Arthur, I know this usually gets dumped into your lap by default,
not sure that's entirely fair.
Especially not fair because that is the Village of Shorewood Hills
<http://www.shorewood-hills.org/>, not City of Madison. Although I
know Arthur and others at the City have given professional and
off-the-record advice to surrounding municipalities and the County,
but they have no official oversight of other jurisdictions.
I would suggest emailing the Village Administrator: Karl Franz:

He's a pretty good guy, who has been trying hard to make things better
for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Construction zones are bad juju in general, but it's especially tough
because the VSH - and topography - does not give people many other
options when the principal one is screwed up. The Village is
specifically constructed to provide few through routes so (car)
commuters don't use it as a cut-through. Well, congestion on a regular
basis and total chaos when the main road is dug up is the result when
you abandon the grid system.

It was open this week Tuesday when I rode it last.
Access along Langdon and at the M.U. construction site at Langdon

and summer school, traffic congestion is much improved from the
past many weeks.
The area around the hospital has some lane constrictions at U.
Bay and at Highland, but is passable by bike

I thought I heard that parts of the path between Memorial Union
and the hospital, or access to it, was blocked off and on this
year. Is it currently open again? Thanks.
