It's interesting that they had enough information to convey the helmet-wearing status, but not enough to suggest what happened beyond a crash. It's a pretty flat intersection; that section of South 1st is marred in that the highwaymen made way too many lanes for car traffic, but the bike lane is in the middle of the many lanes, so visibility shouldn't have been a factor. And considering it happened at 9:10 a.m., I'm glad that alcohol does not seem to be a factor. I assume someone will post later updates.
I ride in that neighborhood quite a bit, but I tend to avoid that intersection whenever possible--and it's pretty possible.
