This is a really fun event, and the one coming up is on the west side, a new location, new route, new group of people, and new feel. Volunteering is fun too. You get to watch people just enjoying the freedom of bicycling that we know every day: families with little kids, people that have a crappy bike in the back of the garage, folks that don't ride much because they feel they have no safe place to ride (regardless of statistic, some people will never feel OK riding anywhere with cars), and neighbors that are excited to have an event they can drop in on.
Besides biking, there are lots of people on rollerblades, with strollers, walkers, and skateboards. There is also music, food, and general enjoyment of the outdoors. I hope lots of people on this list will volunteer a few hours to make this a great event. **** *150 more Volunteers Needed for Ride the Drive!!***** * ***** *Ride the Drive – Westside*, presented by the City of Madison and Madison Parks, is fast approaching. Join us on Sunday, August 18 from 10am-3pm for the second Ride the Drive event for summer 2013, hosted in a Westside neighborhood. As with previous Ride the Drive events, *Ride the Drive-Westside *is free and open to the public.**** * ***** *Volunteers Needed for Ride the Drive***** We need YOU to be a part of one of the coolest active events in the city! In order to make this popular event happen, volunteers are ESSENTIAL. The event is now less than a week away – and we need volunteers to sign up. To successfully run this event, we need about 150 more people to commit just 2 hours of their time on Sunday. If you have enjoyed *Ride the Drive* in the past, but haven’t yet volunteered – Sign up to help this year! Bring your friends or family along (they’re cool and fun, right??)– volunteer for a couple of hours, get a very cool RTD volunteer t-shirt and spend the rest of the day showing off your cool RTD volunteer t-shirt while riding your cool bike around the event. Help make Ride the Drive a success!! http://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/RideTheDrive/westside/volunteers.cfm<https://my.cityofmadison.com/emaillists/redirect.cfm?ID=67863&MID=11415&LID=106> **** * ***** *Ride the Drive* is a car-free, carefree event that transforms some of Madison’s streets into a public promenade.
