This could be really nice. Perhaps we could do what New York did on Times
Square, and fill the street with outdoor furniture. Hopefully, bicyclists and
ice-cream eaters won't get in each others' way. If they do, some adjustments
might be needed.

That is what I and the SASY Transportation Committee envision but alder Marsha
was sick and could not attend the council meeting where this was discussed. I'm
not sure what her opinion is on this but I will be contacting her. It will
ultimately weigh heavily on who shows up at the public meeting and voices
concerns.

Just to be clear:  this one block of Jackson Street would be temporarily closed
to cars.  During the closure, peds/bikes will still be able to cross the street
at the path and would not have to worry about car traffic at this crossing.

For all those who regularly use this section of this bike path:

The bike path runs through this block of Jackson Street. It's one block east of
the Dunning Street diagonal bike crossing on Atwood Ave. near the Harmony Bar.

Dear Neighbor, The opening of the Chocolate Shoppe at 2302 Atwood Avenue was
met with eager residents waiting in line to get ice cream.  Imagine if we
closed Jackson Street between Atwood Avenue and St. Paul Avenue for the summer
so we would have plenty of space to gather as neighbors, …
