In the past I've added a caveat that these services are intended for the UW
community, although they never ask for an ID. This email does say "open to
the public," so take that as you will.

Anyway, this is great opportunity for some of your friends, family, or
colleagues that might not feel as comfortable with and on a bike as the
Bikies subscribers to get some info and hands-on experience with basic
skills.

 Welcome back!

 We’ve got a great semester planned at the University Bicycle Resource
Center (UBRC). Open shop hours are Monday through Friday, 4-8pm. Our
planned events so far are listed below. All events below are free, co-ed
and open to the public. Bring your bike, if you’d like, or look on with
another student. The first five attendees at each of these events will
receive a free Planet Bike blinky light set!

·         Traffic Skills 101. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, Noon - 1:00
p.m. Taught by UW Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator Chuck Strawser. Learn the
basics of vehicular cycling and keep yourself safe and comfortable while
riding in traffic. Bring a brown bag lunch!

·         Chain Lubrication. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Taught by We Are All Mechanics. Keep your bike running smoothly throughout
the year. During the hands-on portion, you will learn and practice best
techniques for cleaning and lubricating your chain.

·         Shifting and Derailleurs. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, 6:00 p.m. -
7:30 p.m. Free class taught by We Are All Mechanics. Learn the basics about
how your bicycle’s gears work and how to keep them shifting smoothly.

·         Introduction to Truing a Wheel. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 6:00 -
7:30 p.m. Free class taught by We Are All Mechanics. Learn the basics about
how to true a wheel and why it is important.

The University Bicycle Resource Center is located in the basement of Helen
C White Library (in the northeast corner of the ground level of the parking
garage.) Enter at ground level from the sidewalk on Park Street near the
