I don't have any details on why the OM property was chosen as the preferred route, but agree with Donna that it looks like some loss of parking at the Schoelkopf property would be a lower impact than disturbing the work that has gone into the OM site. If the loss of parking is really a significant issue for the tenants there (Schoelkopf), it looks like they have additional space to add-on/reconfigure the lot to the southwest of the existing parking area. Since this is a very well-connected area of the city and since there's a tremendous amount of on-street parking available, I would be surprised if the loss of parking is very problematic at all.
But perhaps there are other factors that Engineering considered in designing the proposed route. It sounds like there may be some options/alternatives in the works. Will be interested to see what's presented on 2/8.
