Problem is, there aren't very many *good* IMAP servers on the market. Period. Part of me wants everyone who needs IMAP to be able to use Binc if they need it, and part of me wants everyone who needs mail storage to acknowledge the awesome power that is Maildir.

The part that acknowledges Maildir usually wins. The reason that Binc is so wonderful is due in part because of this: Binc doesn't corrupt mail. Adding other storage formats is going to break something, somewhere, and Binc is going to get the blame.

Right now, Binc has a reputation as a good IMAP server if you don't mind sticking to Maildir. I don't want to see the day when it becomes a good IMAP server if you want to use Maildir, but cross your fingers if you don't.
