Absolutely; and it also seems that everyone agrees that this is how Binc 
IMAP's "make install" should behave.

The magic of FHS conformance is something we must leave to the packaging
tools and port maintainers. I even have to agree myself that I find it
annoying that --prefix=... does not install everything under this path.
