The client can disconnect for any reason; it has the right to do so at any time :-). Sometimes it's due to the user pressing "Stop" or "Cancel", with Outlook it's often caused by Outlook ignoring the 30-minute idle timeout of IMAP, but it can happen for several reasons. The best way of resolving this is if you can provide a protocol dump. You can find a guide to how to do this on the http://www.LifeWithBincIMAP.org/ collaboration site. If we have this information available, we will nail down the problem.
