Lego, experience hal yang sama disini. Dari semua rekan Indian senior enginer 
selama beberapa tahun ini, baru 1 yg bener2 "jago" dan bisa diandalkan. Umumnya 
kalo bener2 di test (dg core skills, aptitude, creativity) bakal ga sesuai 
expectation. Tapi untungnya umumnya mereka cukup cooperative dalam team (hanya 
sedikit sekali yg susah diajak bekerja sama).
   
  ada lucunya, kalo engineer lg mau on-leave waktu yg lama (1-2 bulan, btw ini 
lumrah buat mereka krn rata2 mau kembali ke kampung halaman mencari pasangan), 
outsourcing company akan mereplace dia sementara dg engineer lain (wah, 
plug-and-play, apa bisa jalan dlm software development (in real life)??).
   
  iya sih kendala utama, krn mrk outsourcing jadi tidak ada sense of belonging, 
mereka tidak bener2 take ownership atas pekerjaannya sehingga spt asal jadi (as 
long as it works, padahal buggy banget). Jadinya the onus is on the manager 
buat QA (jadi berat tanggung jawabnya).
   
  aku juga pikir direct hiring lebih baik.

Most of the time, kita ngga bisa pilih team yg kita inginkan, ... biasanya, 
outsourcing company punya banyak pekerja yang dialokasikan ke tiap-tiap client. 
Celaka kalo misalnya team yang buat kita ngga perform. Mereka bilang mereka 
hire senior engineers, ... jarang banget gue liat Indian (selama ini belum 
pernah ke negara lain other than India) senior engineer yang meet expectations. 
Kita udah coba juga nge-filter by interview mereka. Tapi ya emang tetep susah. 
Interview over the phone is always tough. I'm a white-board guy ... paling suka 
kalo liat candidate juga udah mulai express his/her thoughts on a white-board.

Kita bakal shift gear ke hiring individuals, by the way. Dan mereka bakal 
answer to us directly. We'll see how it goes.

That said, gue masih skeptical tentang outsourcing.

Ah... outsourcing.

Some personal rules:
- Don't outsource just because it's cheaper. Outsource because they
can do it better.
- Outsource to small group of people, individual is preferred. Not
massive team like Infosys.
- Language barrier is a big deal.

Pernah coba outsource ke China? :)
