Hello everyone. I paid a brief visit this morning
to the Little River Wetlands site in east Windsor,
curious about what may have arrived in spite of the
unfavourable winds overnight. Much to my surprise, I
found a very early (and very cooperative) Olive-sided
Flycatcher along the east bank of the creek. This is
by far the earliest I've seen this species in 10 years
of birding in Ontario.
Other migrants of note include Swainson's Thrush,
Golden-winged Warbler (one female), Red-eyed Vireo,
American Redstart, Blackburnian, Magnolia, and
Black-throated Blue Warblers (all singletons). I
confined my birding to the central area of the
Ganatchio Trail, where the trees are at their thickest
and the birding is invariably best. No sign of the
Kentucky from two days ago, but it might well be
around still. A good place to look would be the
"Bertha Bush" at the south end of Bertha Street, off
Riverside Drive East. Had a Kentucky (and Blue
Grosbeak) there three years ago.
Access Little River from Lauzon Road or Riverside
Drive East. Take Little River Road east, over the
bridge and park in the lot near the toboggan hill.
   Good birding!
