OFNC BIRD STATUS LINE - MAY 11 2003 AT 5:00 PM

Hello.  This is Terry Higgins reporting for the Ottawa Field-
Naturalists' Club Bird Status Line May 11 at 5:00 p.m.

The RUFF seen at Embrun Sewage Lagoon on the 10th was still
present today, although it had moved to another cell.

The GREAT EGRET reported May 10 at Ottawa Beach was seen in flight
later that same day, but there have been no further reports today.

The TUFTED DUCK at Shirley's Bay was last seen on the 7th.

Reports from Mud Lake this week include: Rusty Blackbird on the
9th, Black-crowned Night-Heron on the 8th and 9th, Northern
Waterthrush on the 8th, Northern Parula, Blackburnian Warbler and
Warbling Vireo also on the 9th.

An Upland Sandpiper was seen on Vance's Side Road on May 10.
Evening Grosbeak and Least Flycatcher were seen on Huntmar that
same day.

Numerous reports of Great Crested Flycatcher, Baltimore Oriole,
Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Gray Catbird were received.

A White-crowned Sparrow was reported from Alta Vista on the 6th.

On the 10th, the Alfred and Embrun Sewage Lagoons provided
Wilson's Phalarope, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Least
Sandpiper, Ruddy Duck, Moorhen and American Coot. Also  Black Tern
at the Alfred site.

Shirley's Bay on the 10th had Gadwall, Redhead, Ruddy Duck as well
as Common Tern.

A Tundra Swan seen at Embrun on the 8th and 10th, is likely the
same individual mentioned in a previous report.
