Hi there,
I returned from the OFO trip to the news that a godwit had been sighted at
Komoka Park. E. Gribble and D. Spenser independently let me know. Mr.
Spenser was pretty sure it was a Hudsonian. This morning, first thing, I
visited the area and sure enough the bird was still there. It is a Hudsonian
Godwit, quite rare for Middlesex County. Also at this mud flats there are a
few Pectoral Sandpipers and a few yellowlegs as well, I think all were
Lesser. The godwit may have been present since later last week.
At the intersection of Glendon and Komoka Roads, there is also an old gravel
pit, full of water. There are many species of waterfowl there to look over
as well.

Directions.
>From London, come out either Oxford Street, or Commissioners Road, both
connecting at west London. Travel west on Oxford to Killworth where the road
continues but is called Glendon Drive. Follow west to Komoka, which is at
the intersection of Glendon and Komoka Road. Then follow the directions
below.
Or from the 402, take the Komoka/Mt. Brydges turnoff, number 82, and travel
easterly on Glendon Drive to intersection of Komoka Road (about 4 km).

Turn south onto Komoka Road (aka County 16), and go less than a km, just
south of a residence on the east side of the road and a few hundred metres
south of a gate to an old gravel pit, also on the east, where there is an
entrance to the Provincial Park(east side). This Park is an undeveloped
Park. Park at the south end of the parking area, near the Sewage Treatment
Plant and walk through the gate leading behind the Plant, bearing right,
towards the river bank, walking on top along a large berm, overlooking the
river on the right and an abandoned gravel pit, which looks like just a
grassland, on the left. At the far end of the berm, a few hundred metres,
where it turns north, there is a small wetland with a mud shore. These birds
were there. Also to be investigated is the wetland to the north, which could
also harbour shorebirds. Best to stand on the berm and look down on the
birds.

Special notes..the Little Beaver Restaurant at the intersection of Komoka
Road and Glendon has a wonderful Sunday Brunch, and good food anyway, and
their coffee is amazing.
