Hi All,
In addition, to the Northern Hawk Owl reported earlier today, my wife and I
observed a Northern Shrike at Fifty Point Conservation Area. We observed it
from Kelson Avenue as it sat in a tree in the conservation area. It flew to
a second tree and then flew to the ground behind a mound of earth, not to be
seen again.
We observed the shrike at 1:45 PM this afternoon. The Northern Hawk Owl was
observed from the RR tracks roughly 200-250 metres west of 10th Road East at
2:30 PM.

Directions:
For the Northern Hawk Owl:
Take the QEW to Niagara / Stoney Creek area, and take Fifty Road South to
the escarpment top., Turn right at the stop sign at Ridge Rd., and go less
then 1km to the first street on the left, 10th concession., turn left and go
to the RR tracks. At 2:30 PM this afternoon, the bird was observed from the
tracks roughly 200-250 metres west of 10th Road E.
For the Northern Shrike:
Take the QEW to Fifty Road and travel north to the North Service Road.
Travel east on the service road to Kelson Avenue. Turn left and travel
along Kelson Road until the dead end. The Northern Shrike was observed west
of Kelson Avenue in Fifty Point Conservation Area near the Kelson Avenue
access gate. There is an abandoned home in the same area.
