On a very cold day-- Feb.27--at 11am--I observed "frenzied" group activity by
30+ Snow Buntings, as well as 8-10 Horned Larks, as both flocks flew back &
forth from field to roadside, as I drove down Hall's Rd. At the entry parking
lot to the north pathway 3 male Wild Turkeys literally came running at me as I
emerged from my car; they strutted around me for 5 minutes, enabling me to
photograph them close-up.

Then I drove over to Whitby harbour, parked my car to view the waterfowl--many
scaup and common goldeneye, 5 long-tailed ducks, a bufflehead, a male HOODED
MERGANSER, and 3 Redheads. Just before leaving, at 1145am, I noted that an
adult BALD EAGLE was perched in a tall tree on the west side of the harbour,
just north of the south marina, as per 2 days ago--not for long--flew low and
westward after 5 minutes.

For Hall's Rd. in Whitby--from the west, exit the 401 at Salem Rd. in Ajax,
south to Bayly, east through LakeRidge, to the first street, south down Hall's
Rd.
For Whitby harbour--exit the 401 at Brock Rd. in Whitby--south right down to a
parking area just north of the lakefront.

One more day for the winter bird count.
