I refound the bird with Anne Anthony at 3:00 p.m. further east from where John and Jim saw it. It was between the 2nd and 3rd towers in a deep gully. It was typically sitting atop a small snag, but only about 5 meters up. The snag was surrounded by 4-5 meters trees so it was a bit hard to see at first.
Thx to John Stirrat and Jim Fairchild for finding the bird. Directions: Exit the 401 at Meadowvale Road (exit 389) and proceed north on Meadowvale past the Toronto Zoo. Turn left (west) on Old Finch Avenue and then right (north) on Reesor Road. Continue north past the second rail crossing until you come to the hydro right of way. Just at the north end of the right of way, there is a small parking area (widening of the shoulder) on the east side of the road. (If you reach Steeles Avenue, you have gone too far). Stop at the parking area and walk around the concrete barriers on the east side of the road. Proceed into the field under the hydro towers. Directions: from the north - from the intersection of Steeles and Reesor Rd., go south to the hydro lines and walk as instructed to the east. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
