Hello: A requested visit to the Wetland by Gerry and Bob (Durham Field Naturalists) and Sheila and Gord from Peterborough yesterday netted us few species.

Two Short-Billed Dowitcher are still present as well as numerous Lesser Yellowlegs, a couple of Greater Yellowlegs and four immature Hooded Mergansers. Some of the Wood Ducks are starting to get the beautiful male colours. A Sharp-shinned Hawk buzzed the wetland. The Wetland's (first) Yellow-rumped Warbler and a group of immature Cedar Waxwings were playing "flycatcher" from the dead branches of a couple of trees. The Cedar Waxwing were complete with striped breasts. I for one have not seen a young Waxwing for quite some time. The little Marsh Wren were singing up a storm again.

A complete report will sent Sunday afternoon Tiny's opening between 2:00 and 4:00pm. As always, the Wetland is a great place to visit whether you are looking for feather friends or wild flowers.

Directions: The Constructed Wetland is located at the SE corner of
Brighton. From Hwy 401, take the Brighton exit 509 (Hwy. 30) and follow
it south into town. Go south through the two traffic lights, over
the railway tracks and follow the main road, now called Prince Edward
Street, south. About 1 km south of the tracks, the main road begins
to swing to the left and becomes Cty. Rd. 64. As this long turn
ends the Constructed Wetlands appear on the right side.
