The Chuck-will's-widow started calling on the south side of Doyle Road at 9:20
this evening. A couple from the Toronto area was able to glimpse the bird after
it crossed the road in the twilight. I still haven't seen it. It was not
calling as incessantly as it has on other evenings, likely because of the
waning moon and the colder temperatures.
Jim Macey was there to hear Chuck. Jim, along with Gerry Bennett, confirmed a
Chuck-will's-widow near Baldwin in York County some years ago.
