Some good habitat this morning on the South Nation River. Joel Nordenstrom & I observed well over 100 Lesser Yellowlegs, half a dozen Greater Yellowlegs, numerous Semipalmated Sandpipers, several Least Sandpipers, a few Semipalmated Plovers, a single Short-billed Dowitcher (winter plumage), 6 Sanderlings, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, half a dozen Pectoral Sandpipers.
Directions: From Highway 417, 53 km east of Ottawa, take exit 66 NNW toward Casselman. Go NNW 2.1 km on Main Street (Rue Principale) to the South Nation River and the High Falls Conservation Area. Follow small road on east side of river to good viewing areas.
