H i all,
There were 2 R.N. Phalaropes at Wildwood Lake this afternoon. Along with
them 32 Gr. Yellowlegs for a change outnumbering Lesser's about 32 to 18. A
few pectorals, Semipalm ated and Least, Kildeer, Solitary, Semipalm Plovers
and oddly 1 lone Sanderling. Everything is at the extreme East end of the
lake just North of Harrington. There is a dike that can be walked from the
31st Line. There is a DU sign on the east side of road and a somewhat hidden
trail on the dike. The DU s
ection on the right is mostly dry and the Phalaropes were in one of the
stream channels feeding. The north side of dike is the end of Wildwood lake
and the water is receding and there is habitat for shorebirds here as well.
Directions: Wildwood lake is between Stratford and St.Mary's south of Hwy 7.
Can be reached from 401 from Cty Rd. 6 (between Woodstock and Ingersoll) N
thru Embro to Rd 96. Left to Harrington to 31st Line and right .
