I went to Golden Mile Plaza to look for the Gyrfalcon and joined several other avid birders. I managed a few photos between 4:30pm and 5:00pm and they can be viewed on my web site. The light levels were low so they aren't great photos so I will be going back. http://www.paulreeves.ca/html/nature/birds/gyrfalcon.html As I was leaving the plaza at 5:15pm the bird was perched on a ledge of the Bell building on the east side of Pharmacy Avenue north of Eglinton Ave. The Golden Mile Plaza is located in Toronto on the north side of Eglinton Ave. East between Victoria Park Ave. and Pharmacy Ave. Paul ReevesPhotography www.paulreeves.ca(416) 792 2931

It was well viewed, eating a pigeon atop a light standard in the parking lot of the Golden Mile Shopping Centre. I arrived in time to see it for about a minute before it took it's meal somewhere out of sight on the roof of the shopping centre. I said the bird was "confirmed" because it has been in the area for a month or more. Today was the first time it has been seen well enough for a positive ID. Aside from being lucky, the best way to see the bird is probably to stake-out the south-east part of the parking lot and wait. There is a large supply of food (pigeons and gulls). I have no idea how widely it's ranging, but it has definitely been returning to this site.
