Temperatures remained in the 30s all day. The wind was light and variable. Raptor Observations: Pretty slow again today. Right around noon, two Redshoulders, a Redtail and a Golden Eagle could be seen in one binocular field. With how quiet it's been lately, that qualifies as an explosion of activity. Non-raptor Observations: Red Crossbills (4) were again heard overhead. A mixed flock of Pine Siskins (20+) and House Finches (10+) were foraging in the trees near the count site early in the day. Tundra Swans (30+) continued to be seen. American Crows (3500+) were pushing through in the morning. Predictions: Mostly sunny but with calm wind less than 5 mph. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
