Temperatures remained cool, mostly in the mid 40s. And strong wind blustered in off the lake from the southeast throughout. Raptor Observations: It was a fun morning flight with a good number of Cooper's and Red-tailed hawks shooting past early, enlivening the first two hours. Around midday, we were visited by a couple notable birds, first our third Northern Goshawk of the season and then a little later another light morph Rough-legged Hawk. By the afternoon, activity had come to a screeching halt. Non-raptor Observations: Great Black-backed Gull (1), Common Loon (2), American Crow (800+) Predictions: Overcast with highs in the mid 40s, moderate south wind a 70 percent chance of rain. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
