Weather: Had a brief 15 minutes of rain at about 10am, after that it was just the occasional sprinkle until 1pm, when the rain started coming down continuously. South-easterly winds all day. Raptor Observations: One migrant raptor today, a Northern Harrier towards the end of the count. There were two adult Bald Eagles, and two adult Red-tailed Hawks that were all visible in the same binocular view at one point! But all seemed to be locals. Non-raptor Observations: A few birds migrated today, 167 Cedar Waxwings and 134 Horned Larks. The marsh waterfowl seem to be thinning out slowly still. For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32775289 Predictions: Moderately strong Southerly winds predicted tomorrow, thankfully the rain should stop by the time the count starts. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
