I have a LAN on a switched 100 base T network. The computer I work on
shares a switch with my advisors computer, and the switch (#1) we are
both on connects to another switch (#2) which is shared with the
router, NFS server, etc....

My advisor's machine is a dual boot win32/linux. Whenever he reboots
his machine from linux to windows, my ssh sessions to other machines
on the LAN (which are on switch #2) freeze and then timeout with a
disconnect. During this freeze, I cannot establish any connections
with other machines on the LAN (all the others except his and mine are
on switch #2). After 30s or so, I can reestablish contact with them.

The topology is like this

  Me-----------|
            Switch #1-----
  Advisor------| |
(dual boot) |
                         |
     ----------------Switch #2--------------------------
    | | | |
    | NFS home Client 1 Client 2
    |
    |
  Router

No other user on the NFS home or the other clients are reporting this
problem. Any ideas what might be going on or how I can diagnose it?
Neither my machine nor the NFS home or the other clients are NFS
mounting any of my advisors dirs.

Thanks,
John Hunter
