Hello! Just to answer my own question..

You can use standard PCMCIA card drives in a Catalyst switch.

Instead of just referring to it as slot0: or disk0:, I had to specifically
refer to it as 1/disk0: which then allowed me to format it in the switch,
and my PC could still read the formatted card, so i could then stick my OS
images onto the card and get them onto the switch.

I thought that was me had cracked the problem. However the new image is
15MB, and the switch only has 44kb of Flash left!!! argffgfgfg!! :)

I'll let you know how it goes..
