The problem does not exist in the cvs snapshots (and may not
exist in 0.51.3), _if_ you use certain programs to set the
background. Some of the background image programs (wmsetbg,
esetroot) include some extra code which lets apps like aterm
detect the change in background and adjust accordingly. Use
one of those two apps to set your background and the aterms
should work as expected.
