shading the window then unshading it does the trick .. or will at least do
until a fix/workaround is applied.
off topic:
and I wouldn't recommend wmsetbg or esetroot if you change your root image
around a lot in a single session because they both do not remove the
previous image .. they just write over it .. use xv instead. ;)
