You're new here, aren't you?  This `feature-paring' is due to the fact
that ICCCM window managers are forbidden to use explicit keygrabs, like
the shortcuts you are referring to.  I, for one, now prefer bbkeys
because it allows much more flexibility than the key bindings in 0.51. 
This is For the Good of the Many, and not worth rehashing yet again.
