I think you're on the right track here.  WM_CLASS seems to be the way to go -
I tried using dtterm on this Solaris box (which *does* change the window title
when I cd) and WM_CLASS is what I set with "-name" while WM_NAME is the
current window title.

I'm looking forward to your program.  Unfortunately because my desktops are so
complicated I can't use blackbox until I have a way of moving stuff into the
correct workspace (either in .xinitrc or by save and restore), so I'm back
using WindowMaker again.  But because I don't have all the various graphics
shit installed here, WindowMaker has some very ugly quirks.  I want the speed
and sleekness of Blackbox!
