Blackbox is working perfectly as of last night. Thanks to all who replied
for all the help.
I changed the mouse pointer settings -- and I did read the man page after
your note [ sorry! ] -- by placing the line below in my home directory
/.xsession file. I restarted blackbox a few times to test and the setting
stays good each time. I also deleted .blackboxrc and let blackbox generate a
new one. I found from reading .blackboxrc that the directory placement of
the blackbox menu file was wrong and I placed it in the correct spot.
A running blackbox is very cool and, again, I appreciate all the collective
help.

It is good practice to read the documentation before asking questions.
Use xmodmap -pp to see your pointer settings, use
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3" or xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 3 2" as your case
warrants.
delete your .blackboxrc, start blackbox, exit blackbox, and edit
.blackboxrc. Then restart blackbox. Also, make sure you do all this as the
user who is running blackbox, not root.
