Really?  You stated "it wouldn't kill you to do some reasonable testing
before jumping in", to make a statement like this does all of the above.  It
questions the poster's intelligence, motivation, character, and quite
possibly even mood.

To make a statement to this effect directly in response to someone's post
indicates your opinion that they haven't already done these things.

Do you honestly think I would intentionally mislead?  I thought I was
responding to his EXACT problem, and have apologized for my error.

Until personally attacked, I did.  I would expect anyone getting a response
like that directly to one of their posts would react similarly.
