I guess "compliant" in the way that one could use Enlightenment, Sawfish, WM, etc as the window manager for Gnome. Why anyone want's to do this is beyond me, all of the above are nice enough environments on their own.

Yeah, but compliant with WHAT? Everyone has been talking about the new
WM spec for ages now, but then Gnome goes off and does their own thing,
and KDE's kwm goes off and does its own thing....
Arg. It's enough to make someone want to use fvwm.
