i was trying out desktops today and both kdesktop and gnome-desktop worked, although i quickly came to the conclusion that i dont really want to run either of those programs regularly. i would like to find an alternate program that will simply put icons on the desktop (and perhaps even show iconified/minimized programs as icons, ala Windows 3.x)
i like the fact that gnome's desktop will pass thru clicks to blackbox, so that my menu comes up (kdesktop traps mouse clicks and shows the KDE menu, which is a massively huge no-no), but i dont like using GNOME or KDE's desktops... if anyone knows any lightweight programs that will do similar, please let me know :) maybe i'll try and write my own desktop in perl or something, because i cant seem to find a program that will simply put icons on the desktop, with no frills.... (has anyone see perlwm yet?) > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Gnome compliant??? > > George Jones (IT) wrote: > > > To settle a dispute, could someone tell me if BlackBox is a "Gnome > > compliant" window manager?
