Now that blackbox development is active again I wonder if there will be some
investigation on the problem of popular .pcf fonts being displayed with the
wrong size (way too big) in Blackbox in the default configuration of X/Xfs in
RedHat 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1.

I know this is a problem which have been discussed on this mailing lists many
times but I have yet to see an "absolut fix" or step by step howto on how to fix
it.

A lot of people have told me (on irc) that they have this problem when using
themes which uses Artwiz fonts and other .pcf fonts (which a lot of the *really
good* quality themes uses). Users of Debian Sid or Slackware seem to not have
this problem.

The problem might be something in the X config or X server config in the
affected distros. I have tried to find out exactly what is different in the X
config in redhat/mandrake from debian without success. I have tried a number of
workarounds people have suggested and none of them seems to work.

The fact that things like 'aterm -fn font' or 'xterm -fn font' shows all the pcf
fonts with the correct size and blackbox does not leads me to the conclusion
that it might indeed might be something with the font handling in Blackbox
itself that could be changed.

My dream fix would be something that does not require tampering with any style
files or installing another font server than the default in redhat/mandrake.

I would at least be interested to see the exact steps that has to be taken on a
fresh Redhat 7.2 or Mandrake 8.1 system to install and make the .pcf fonts
display in the correct size. Also, I'm sure such a howto will help others too.
