Brad and I have discussed this. Handling keybindings is not a simple thing and means at least another 100 - 200 lines of code to be done right. Our belief is that if we add keybinding support to the menu we will probably integrate full keybinding support back into blackbox. You will note flux already did this, so adding menu bindings was fairly trivial.
