Hi Alcor, If you're looking for a helping hand, I'd be happy to help (as I'm sure lots of other people will). Anything I can do to help QS! If by 'maintaining' you mean hosting / server / backup / forum software etc. then I'd be happy to help out in that department.
Of course, I'll let you make the decisions, but unless you plan on making Google Groups the permanent solution the longer things are left, the harder it will be to revert. You've mentioned backups of the old forums from ~ 1 year ago. Is there nothing in there of use? Could we not create a new forum and restore what we do have?
