cmd-tab may take time if there are lot of apps running.
using function keys to switch between apps is the fastest way i know
of. (ofcourse, you can only switch between apps that you have a
trigger for)

Might I also add that if you want to use address-bar autocomplete, so
what you want really _is_ just a blank new window, you can use Cmd-
Tab, which brings up the system-provided application switcher, tab
over to Safari, release Cmd and then press Cmd-N. I use that for all
my app-switching and the like because it's faster than dealing with QS
for such a specialized task. Mostly I use QS for file operations—
open, move, rename, delete, open with etc.

Is there a way to have an action to open a new window? for
example. I
have a few safari windows open but minimized and I want to save a
step
in opening a new one....... so right now I invoke QS then type s
and
hit enter safari opens but it is one of my minimized windows. is
there
a way to invoke QS type "S" hit tab (or arrows) and select open
new?
So many ways to answer...
If it worked a little better the User Interface Access plug-in gives
you access to an applications menu. You could bring up Safari in the
first pane, and use the Show Menu or Show Menu Items... actions to
find the New Window action.
Someone else could describe to you how to write an applescript to
send
cmd-N to Safari, then you could invoke it via Quicksilver. Searching
the group for applescript will probably find it.
My question is why use Quicksilver to bring up and empty window when
you could use Quicksilver to:
- Bring up a bookmark in the 1st pane and use Open URL..
- Type an URL into the 1st pane and use Open URL...
- Use the Web Search plugin to do a search right from QS that will
open in Safari
The above will open in new windows if in the Safari preferences
General tab the "Open links from applications" is set to "in a new
window"
For all of the above see the Web section of the manual for
details.http://mysite.verizon.net/hmelman/Quicksilver.pdf
