Do you really want the contents of those disks to be directly stored in your 
catalog or do you just want to be able to navigate those disks? Because you can 
navigate anywhere on any mounted disk using arrow keys or / without putting 
everything in the catalog.

What seems odd to me is that it wakes the disk when you invoke Quicksilver, not 
when the catalog is rescanned. So I’m not sure if catalog settings are going to 
make a difference. I could see this happening if the last object you had in the 
first pane was something on that disk. (The next time you invoke QS, it would 
have to go look up the icon.) But does it happen all the time? Because that I 
can’t explain right now.
