Thank you Jon; yes, I tried changing that setting thinking it may also
affect the behavior I describe, but as Rob McBroom said, it only
determines how long after typing until your current search string is
reset <b>while QS is active</b>.

My issue is as Rob also says quite well: "if you had something in the
first pane, then go do something else, the last thing should still be
there the next time you invoke Quicksilver." To clarify, this works as
expected in the short term, but appears to clear out somehow after a
longer period of time, say 10 minutes (?) of not invoking QS. This is
something that changed for me at version B59.

If no one else has this problem, maybe it is just a setting in
my .plist, or something I am doing, or something specific to my Mac
Pro. If I get super motivated, maybe I'll grab the source on github
and see if I can figure it out...
